Course Format

Course Content
Theory:
Delivered through a blend of online and onsite classes, the theory component lays the intellectual foundation of Montessori education. It covers key areas such as Child Development in the First Plane (0–6 years), Child Psychology, and the nature of early learning, helping students understand how young children grow and learn. The course also explores core Montessori principles and philosophy, offers an introduction to the Montessori curriculum areas, and provides essential knowledge in school management and administration. Students will examine the role of the adult in the prepared environment and learn the importance of observation and reflective practice as tools for guiding children. Together, these sessions equip trainees to thoughtfully apply Montessori theory in real-life classroom settings.
Practicals:
Conducted entirely onsite at the Kalpagam Centre, these hands-on sessions are a vital part of the training, with 100% attendance mandatory. Students receive guided demonstrations and practice opportunities in key areas of the Montessori curriculum. This includes Exercises of Practical Life, Sensorial Activities, Language Activities, Arithmetic Activities and Culture. Trainees will also practice lesson presentations, work directly with Montessori materials, and receive ongoing feedback from experienced mentors, ensuring they are well-prepared for real classroom environments.
Course Duration
The Primary Montessori Teacher Training Course at Kalpagam Montessori Academy will commence in June, with final examinations scheduled for April. Theory classes will be held twice a week, allowing students to progressively build their understanding of Montessori philosophy and child development. Practical sessions will take place every Saturday at the Kalpagam Centre, providing consistent hands-on experience with Montessori materials. An important note for all trainees: every government holiday during the course duration will also be utilized for practical sessions, ensuring ample time for skill development and classroom practice.
Course Completion Requirements
To be eligible for the NCVRT Diploma in Primary Montessori Education (3–6 years), candidates must fulfill the following academic and attendance requirements:

Minimum 90% attendance in all theory sessions

100% attendance in all practical sessions

Completion of all coursework, including:

Handwritten assignments
-
Preparation of practical albums

100 hours of presentation practice

60 hours of classroom observation
-
60 hours of supervised teaching practice

Completion of guided material making

A minimum score of 40% in each of the following components:

Internal assessments

Final written theory examination

Practical examination and viva, conducted by an external examiner

Only upon successfully completing all of the above will a candidate be awarded the Government-recognized NCVRT Diploma, enabling them to pursue a professional career in Montessori education in both public and private institutions.

It qualifies the holder to work confidently and competently with children in a Montessori environment for the 3 to 6 years age group. Eligibility
To be considered for admission to the Primary Montessori Teacher Training Course at the Kalpagam Montessori Academy, candidates must meet the following requirements:

In exceptional cases, we may consider applicants without a Bachelor’s degree, provided they demonstrate relevant life experience, maturity, and a commitment to Montessori principles.
